Five tips to help you remember not to forget. How’s your—umm—memory? Are you on top of things or are you starting to forget what you easily used to remember. Memory expert Harry Lorayne offers these memory-enhancing techniques:
Write it down. Whether you’re just planning your day or developing key points for a presentation, get your thoughts on paper or in the computer. Making lists allows you to focus on more important tasks and gives you a record of what you need to do.
Use technology. Leave yourself voice mail messages. Try a personal digital assistant to help you keep track of phone numbers, schedules and lists.
Use word associations. This is particularly helpful if you forget names. Associate the name with something unrelated so one thing reminds you of another. For instance Jack reminds you of your brother Jack because they’re both big Yankee fans.
Listen carefully.haps you think your memory’s slipping, while in reality, you weren’t paying attention.
Relax. Don’t feel guilty when you forget. Once you relax, you’ll likely jog your memory.
