Praise can do wonders
Expressing sincere admiration can win over all types of customers. Take these steps to pour on the praise:
Commit to giving compliments each day. Example: If you’re going to meet with customers at a conference, try to praise at least every other individual you talk with.
Base praise on behaviour. Vague compliments sound phoney. But if you comment on a smart action that someone takes, you’ll build rapport. Example: “I liked the way you examined that antique. You knew just where to look to confirm its authenticity.”
Show interest. If you like what someone is wearing, say more than “That’s a nice shirt.” Ask questions such as “Where did you get it?” or “Are you happy with it?”
